Landscape at ReSource: 2010 Arch League Prize
This year's Architectural League Prize for Young Architects and Designers went to a few firms with strong landscape influences:
-Keith VanDerSys, who is partner of PEG office of landscape and architecture, with Karen M'Closkey, a landscape architect. Both teach in the landscape department at Penn.
-Austin+Mergold also features one partner, Jason Austin, who trained as a landscape architect at Penn.
-Bittertang, almost more artist than designer, creates a contemporary Rococo by imagining incredible, sensual and kind of hilarious, if not so sexual, environments.
-Emily Abruzzo and Gerald Bodziak of ABRUZZO BODZIAK ARCHITECTS show their worls of architecture taking cues from the landscape around them - an open flowering meadow, or snow fallen plain.
-and Eric Schuldenfrei and Marisa Yiu of ESKYIU show many vertical green structures.
While half of the winners have presented their work last Tuesday, there is still a chance to see ABRUZZO BODZIAK ARCHITECTS, ESKYIU, and Keith VanDerSys of PEG this Tuesday, at 7:00 p.m. at the Anna-Maria and Stephen Kellen Auditorium, Sheila C. Johnson Design Center, Parsons The New School for Design, 66 Fifth Avenue, New York City. Receptions will follow the lectures. Admission is free for League members and $10 for non-members. see arch league website for more info.
