Elizabeth Campbell Kelly | Jul 16, 08:47 AM | digg del.icio.us The High Line is incredible!! It feels so new - for New York, and for landscape architecture in general. It feels like all of the new ideas batted around for the last few years coalesced and found form. The experience is truly outstanding. The planting is incredible - some kind of amazing hybrid between all of the slag heap and vacant lot landscapes we see in studios combined with the herbaceous border. And the parade promenade and spectacle of the thing is really fresh - probably in part because of the location - Chelesa and Meatpacking - it feels a bit like the anti-Central Park, which is always filled with polished upper east siders and tourists. People look great walking down the High Line, framed by planting, city, Hudson River. Ok, enough gushing, maybe something more considered later...
